Cookie Policy

Last updated: February 11, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how AskYourValentine at askyourvalentine.com uses cookies and similar technologies.

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your web browser when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work properly, provide analytics, and remember your preferences. Local storage is a similar browser technology that allows websites to store data on your device.

2. Essential Cookies

These cookies are necessary for the Service to function and cannot be disabled.

  • Firebase Authentication — When you sign in with Google, Firebase sets cookies to manage your authentication session. These cookies keep you signed in and verify your identity when accessing premium features. They expire when you sign out or after an extended period of inactivity.

3. Analytics Cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use the Service. GA4 sets cookies to distinguish unique visitors and track session information. The data collected includes:

  • Pages visited and features used.
  • Browser type, device type, and screen size.
  • Approximate geographic location (derived from IP address).
  • Interactions such as creating proposals, sharing links, and clicking buttons.

Analytics data is aggregated and used to improve the Service. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

4. Local Storage

We use your browser's local storage in one specific case:

  • Draft preservation — When you start a premium checkout, your proposal draft (names, greeting, question, button text, and selected theme) is temporarily saved to local storage so it can be restored when you return from the payment page. This data is automatically deleted after restoration.

5. How to Control Cookies

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

  • View what cookies are stored and delete them individually.
  • Block third-party cookies.
  • Block all cookies from specific sites.
  • Block all cookies entirely.

Please note that blocking essential cookies (Firebase Authentication) will prevent you from signing in and accessing premium features. The free proposal creation feature does not require cookies.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
